Privacy

This covers how I handle your information, both on this website and as a patient of the clinic. I am bound by the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, and by the confidentiality requirements of my professional association.

What I collect

If you contact me through this site, I collect your name, email, phone number and whatever you write in the message. If you join the mailing list, I collect your name and email.

If you become a patient, I collect health information: your history, symptoms, medications, test results, family history and what we discuss in consultations. This is sensitive information under the Privacy Act and is treated accordingly.

Why I collect it

To respond to you, to provide naturopathic care, to keep accurate clinical records as my professional association requires, and — if you asked for it — to send you the occasional email.

Who sees it

Your health information is not shared with anyone without your consent, with two exceptions: where the law requires disclosure, or where there is a serious and imminent threat to someone’s life or health.

If you ask me to write to your GP or another practitioner, I will, but only with your agreement.

Where it is stored

Clinical records are held in SimpleClinic, a practice management system built for Australian health practitioners. Booking and appointment information is held there too. Mailing list details are held with my email provider. These services hold data on secure servers and some may be located outside Australia.

How long I keep it

Clinical records are kept for at least seven years after your last consultation, as required. For anyone who was under 18 at the time, records are kept until they turn 25.

Seeing or correcting your records

You can ask for a copy of your records, or ask me to correct something that is wrong. Email or call and I will arrange it. There may be a reasonable fee for producing copies.

The mailing list

Every email has an unsubscribe link and it works immediately. I do not sell, rent or share the list.

This website

The site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Form submissions are processed by a form service and delivered to my email.

If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, contact me first on +61 414 513 456. If that does not resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
