Skin
Skin is slow, visible and demoralising, which is a hard combination. It is also one of the clearest windows onto what is happening internally — skin that flares in a pattern is telling you something.
This might sound familiar
If two or three of these land, it is worth a conversation.
- Adult acne that arrived in your thirties and will not leave
- Eczema managed with steroid creams that return the moment you stop
- Psoriasis that tracks your stress levels precisely
- Hives with no identifiable trigger
- Post-acne marks and scarring that are not fading
What I look at
The first consultation works through all of this.
- The gut–skin link
- Inflammatory skin conditions very often sit downstream of digestion. It is rarely worth treating the skin alone.
- Zinc and essential fats
- Two of the most common genuine deficiencies in inflammatory skin, and both are measurable.
- Hormonal pattern
- Acne along the jaw, flaring before a period, or arriving with PCOS is a hormonal picture and is treated as one.
- Liver and clearance
- How well the body is processing and eliminating, which shows up on the skin when it is sluggish.
How I treat it
Anti-inflammatory and depurative herbs, zinc and essential fatty acids where they are low, and dietary change aimed at the inflammation rather than at eliminating foods indefinitely. Where the picture is hormonal, we treat the hormones.
What to expect, and when
Skin turns over slowly. Expect eight to twelve weeks before a fair judgement, and a possible settling period early on. Marks and scarring fade over months, not weeks.
Everything above is how I generally approach this area. What you actually get is decided in your consultation, on your case — not from a page.
